Aberdeen, SD – Home of Aberdeen Chrysler Center

Aberdeen, South Dakota is the county seat for Brown County. With a population of over 27,000, it’s the third-largest city in South Dakota and is home to Northern State University and Presentation College.

Back in the early 1900s, it had four different railroad companies with depots built in the newly-developing town, so it became known as the “Hub City of the Dakotas” and is still called Hub City to this day.

It’s home to the first Super 8 Motel. Founded in 1972 by Dennis Brown and Ron Rivett, the first Super 8 opened in 1974 with 60 rooms and is still open today as Super 8 Aberdeen East.
